Flats in Targówek — prices, the district, listings

Targówek is the district the metro changed most. Since line two reached Bródno, the commute downtown is counted in quarter-hours, while prices are still lower than on the left bank.

What is Targówek like from the inside?

Bródno is the largest part of the district: 1970s estates around Bródnowski Park, a full set of shops and schools within walking distance, and flats in the sizes most buyers look for. This is where most listings are.

Zacisze and Targówek Mieszkaniowy are lower-rise, with single-family houses — quieter, more intimate, at a different price per square metre. Targówek Fabryczny remains post-industrial land where residential fabric is only now appearing.

The district is still filling in: new buildings appear between the old estates, and the land along the railway is waiting to be developed. If you are buying a flat overlooking an empty plot, check the local zoning plan — it is the cheapest hour of the whole transaction.

Getting around

Metro line two serves the district at Trocka, Targówek Mieszkaniowy and Zacisze-Wilno. Those stations moved Targówek from the "far away" category into the "fifteen minutes from the centre" one.

The rest of the district relies on trams and buses — frequent, but exposed to congestion on Radzymińska and the Toruńska route. The gap between an address by a metro station and one two bus stops away is very visible here, and it shows in prices.

By car you take the Toruńska route to the ring road and towards Gdańsk, and the Grot-Rowecki bridge to the left bank. Bridge traffic at peak hours is the most common reason residents end up taking the metro anyway.

Who is this district for?

First-time buyers who want the metro and do not want left-bank prices. That is now the main reason people look at Targówek at all.

Families: Bródnowski Park is large and genuinely used, schools sit inside the estates, and there is mature greenery between the blocks that newer districts simply do not have.

Investors counting rental yield — a lower purchase price with a good commute gives a better rent-to-price ratio than central districts. Less so for buyers after a prestige address and dining downstairs.

Frequently asked questions

Does Targówek have a metro?

Yes, line two has three stations here: Trocka, Targówek Mieszkaniowy and Zacisze-Wilno. Świętokrzyska is about fifteen minutes away.

How does Bródno differ from Zacisze?

Bródno means large 1970s estates with full amenities and the widest choice of flats. Zacisze is lower, quieter, with single-family houses and far fewer listings.

Is Targówek a safe district?

For years Targówek shared its reputation with Praga-Północ, but the residential estates around Bródnowski Park are ordinary, quiet urban fabric today. As everywhere, neighbouring streets can differ — an evening walk around the specific address is the best test.
